研究领域:

主要从鸟类多样性与地理分布、物种进化关系、谱系地理格局、适应性进化等方面开展研究,重点探讨山地和高原环境对当地鸟类物种分化、遗传多样性与适应性进化的影响。取得的主要研究结果如下:1,高原鸟类的分布格局与系统发育研究:发现高原东部地区是中国特有鸟类的分布中心;高原及周边山脉的隆起导致许多中国特有鸟类的起源和分化。2,高原鸟类的比较谱系地理研究:阐述了“冰期避难地”对高原东北部地区(祁连山)鸟类遗传特有性的维持与保护;揭示了“演化岛”的隔离与稳定是形成高原东南部地区(西南山地)鸟类遗传多样性与特有性的机制。3,高原鸟类适应性进化研究:发现高原特有鸟类地山雀在适应高原特殊环境中,加速了骨骼发育基因的进化、丢失了羽毛角质蛋白基因。上述结果首次从基因组层面揭示了高原特殊环境如何把树栖生活的“山雀”变成了地面活动的“地鸦”。

国际鸟类学联盟理事(International Ornithologists’ Union, fellow)。 中国鸟类学会理事。

曾获第七届“郑作新鸟类青年奖”。
