陈之端,男,博士,研究员,博士生导师。

1964年5月5日生,1985年毕业于山东大学生物系。1992年在中国科学院植物研究所获博士学位,并留所工作,先后任研究实习员、助理研究员、副研究员,1997年起任研究员,1999年起任博士生导师。1995、1999、2000、2002和2006年曾分别在美国佛罗里达大学、瑞士苏黎世大学、英国邱园、美国哈佛大学和美国华盛顿史密森研究所进行合作研究。

近年来一直从事植物系统发育重建和生物地理学研究,即利用多学科的手段,在较高分类阶元上,探讨植物的系统发育关系和进化,并将形态学、古植物学、分子系统学以及生物地理学的研究结果相结合,研究植物类群的起源、分化和现代地理格局及其成因。目前的主要研究工作集中在:

(1)利用基因、基因组、形态学以及生物地理学等证据探讨被子植物大类群的系统发育和进化;

(2)利用生命之树,研究植物区系及其生物多样性的时空格局和形成原因。

曾主持完成过国家自然科学基金委青年基金和美国国家地理学会(NGF)基金项目各1项,国家自然科学基金委面上项目4项,中国科学院知识创新方向性项目1项,还分别与路安民研究员和吴征镒院士共同主持过国家自然科学基金委重点项目各1项,作为合作者完成1项国家自然科学基金委海外青年学者合作研究基金项目。作为课题负责人在研科技部国家重大科学研究计划项目(973)、中国科学院海外科教基地建设计划项目和国家自然科学基金委重大项目各1项。2005年获云南省自然科学一等奖1项(本人排名第二)。在AJB、IJPS、MBE、MPE、Nature、NP、PNAS、PPEES、Taxon等国际学术刊物(SCI收录期刊)上单独或合作发表论文近百篇。
