洪德元,男,研究生毕业,中国科学院院士,第三世界科学院院士。

1962年毕业于复旦大学生物系。1966年中国科学院植物研究所研究生毕业。1988年至今任中国科学院植物研究所研究员,1991–2001年任系统与进化植物学开放研究实验室主任。在玄参科、桔梗科和鸭跖草科植物分类和系统学研究中作出了突出贡献,提出了多个属的新系统,发现8个新属、50多个新种;在英文专著《Taxonomy and Evolution of the tribe Veroniceae, Scrophulariaceae》(婆婆纳族的分类和进化)(1984:哥本哈根)运用了新方法,提出了起源和进化的新观点,建立了该族的进化系统;对毛莨科、桔梗科和百合科的细胞分类学和物种生物学研究有新发现;1990年出版的《植物细胞分类学》是世界上该领域的第一部专著,为植物细胞分类学的发展作出了贡献。1991年被选为中国科学院院士(学部委员)。90年代起集中精力从事世界的牡丹、芍药和桔梗科植物的专著研究。在国外出版英文专著《Peonies of the World》(世界的牡丹芍药)(系列1和2:2010,2011,英国);2015年由Elsevier和Science Press联合出版《A Monograph of Codonopsis and Allied Genera》(党参属及近缘属专著)。现致力于主持重大国际合作项目“泛喜马拉雅地区植物志”(Flora of Pan-Himalaya),将由剑桥大学出版社和科学出版社联合出版。

学术兼职:中国植物学会理事长(2008–2013),名誉理事长(2013–),兼任浙江大学生命科学学院院长(1999–2009),兼任国家自然科学基金委生命科学部主任(2000–2008)。美国植物学会通讯会员,日本植物学会通讯会员,国际植物物种项目(世界植物志)指导委员会委员,《Flora of China》(中国植物志英文版)编委会中方副主席(2001–2013),《Flora of Pan-Himalaya》(泛喜马拉雅植物志)主编(2011–)。

已发表研究论文291篇,其中近百篇发表在SCI刊物;专著19部(国外8部)。获2000年度何梁何利基金科学与技术进步奖;全国优秀博士研究生导师奖;2012年澳大利亚悉尼皇家植物园首届麦考瑞奖。已培养博士32名,其中4位获中国科学院院长奖学金优秀奖,1位获特等奖,1位获全国首届优秀博士论文奖。目前正指导博士研究生1名。

研究方向

1.以种子植物为研究对象,近期围绕《泛喜马拉雅植物志》开展研究,主攻对象为菊科、豆科、禾本科、莎草科、百合科(广义)、唇形科、茄科、堇菜科、槭树科和桔梗科;对重要类群进行深入的分类修订。

2.对重点科、属的系统发育关系进行深入探讨,修订现有的分类系统。

3.对物种问题进行探讨,以研究实例为基础,融入国际新成果,提出对物种问题的新观点。
