苏俄科学院生物科学副博士（=Ph.D）及生物科学博士、中国科学院微生物研究所研究员、中国科学院院士，中国科学院中国孢子植物志编辑委员会主编。主要从事地衣生物多样性及地衣型真菌系统与演化生物学以及地衣资源生物学研究。

6. 主要研究内容及目标
地衣生物多样性、地衣型真菌系统与演化生物学、荒漠地衣及其固沙生物学、以及地衣化学的生物学活性的研究。
正在进行的研究课题：通过表型与基因型相结合的综合分析法进行世界范围的石耳科系统与演化生物学研究；地衣型与非地衣型真菌的分子演化生物学；《中国地衣志》；荒漠地衣菌藻分离培养及其抗逆基因的分离、筛选与克隆；地衣及其菌藻活性物质的研究。

8. 主要研究成果简介
建立了地衣新属岛蕊属(Cetradonia),基于表基相结合的综合分析，将该属地衣从被S.K. Stenroos and P.T. DePriest（1998）置于远离石蕊科的系统地位上划归石蕊科(Cladoniaceae)内。（附系统发育树图）
基于表基相结合的综合分析将石耳科从茶渍目(Leacnorales)中分出另建立新目石耳目(Umbilicariales)。（附系统发育树图）
明确了荒漠地衣优势种石果衣(Endocarpon pussilum) 的共生藻为柯氏复球藻(Diplosphaeria chodatii)并在干旱饥饿双胁迫下获得共生菌存活７个月的最新实验记录；构建了第一个地衣型真菌的全长cDNA文库，首次从该文库中筛选出了111个地衣型真菌所特有的新基因，利用部分新基因初步确定石果衣共生菌基因组大小为39.13 MB。
