2004年以第二完成人获北京市科学技术奖(基础研究类)一等奖,2008年以第一完成人获北京市科学技术奖(基础研究类)二等奖,2012年以第一完成人获北京市科学技术奖(技术发明类)一等奖,2013年以第一完成人获北京市发明专利奖一等奖、以第一完成人获中国专利优秀奖。2015年以唯一完成人获吴文俊人工智能科学技术奖一等奖。先后主持了国家自然科学基金重点项目、重大国际合作项目、国家杰出青年基金项目、国家863重点专项项目、目标导向类课题,北京市自然科学基金重点项目等二十余项科研项目。已在PAMI、IJCV等国际刊物、国内一级刊物以及ICCV、ECCV、CVPR等重要国际学术会议上发表论文200余篇,其中第一作者44篇。据不完全统计,本研究组发表的论文被Web of Science他引4198次、Google Scholar他引12363次;单篇Web of Science他引用最高次数为779次、单篇Google Scholar他引最高次数2105篇次。授权发明专利30余项。已授权发明专利30余项。主持完成了国家某大型网络监管重点示范工程项目。负责完成的敏感图像识别技术、兴奋剂宣传销售信息识别技术得到了实际应用,负责开发了网络多模态有害信息过滤系统。有7年作为软件工程师的软件系统开发经历,独立完成源代码20万行以上,开发了多套软件产品与实用系统在国内有关单位推广使用,其中完成的商业化软件产品—方正智绘地图晕渲系统广泛使用于测绘、地矿、农业、林业、出版等行业。负责的研究团队有事业编制和非事业编制的职工10人、研究生30余人。如下是发表在国际权威刊物与顶级国际会议上的论文:
